It Was a Happy Thanksgiving

We had a good day yesterday -- we had a leisurely morning, then we all took the brand new Light Rail downtown and walked around a bit. Had lunch at Starbuck's (only thing open) and then took the Light Rail back.

Relaxed and hung out most of the day (and I finished painting the Guess How Much I Love You scene in Sydney's room -- almost done wiht the nursery! what do they say about the devil is in the details??)

Then we met our friends for dinner at Gabriel's at 4:30. It was a nice dinner, the kids were remarkably well-behaved (at least, until we got back to our house, when Sally became a raging maniac).

She was not feeling well today at all -- coughing a lot (got to get that knocked out before baby comes!) and overall just not herself. Whiney, uncooperative, and had 2 accidents (which is more than she's had in the 3 weeks since she's transitioned from pull-ups into panties).

But on the upside, we did meet (by referral) a very nice lady who does some babysitting/nanny work in the evenings and on weekends. Her name is Carolyn and Sara's mommy recommended her. Her kids are grown (youngest in college, so it will be awhile before she enjoys grandkids!) and she just loves little kids, so she babysits when she can to get to play with the little ones. We're planning to use her one of the evenings that I'm in the hospital, which will be nice I think.

Speaking of that....We've nearly nailed down the Sally schedule while I'm away....it has her sleeping out 3 nights and then home 2 nights before baby comes home. Just need to confirm with our neighbor when they get back into town tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, I am ready. I must say, this has been a remarkably easy pregnancy, but the past few days I've noticed things are getting tougher. While it's true I can still bend over, still see my toes, still get up from a sitting on the ground position, and all of this is good -- however, I am just now starting to have trouble sleeping (remarkable that the good sleep has lasted this long!) and my lower back hurts for a day when I stand for too long (which seems to be happening a lot lately).

My bag is nearly packed for the hospital -- finishing up some laundry this weekend, and some details on Monday and Tuesday (housekeeper comes on Monday, I have a haircut on Monday, mani/pedi on Tuesday, dr's appt on Tuesday, we're planning to buy our Christmas tree on Tuesday, grocery shopping, etc.)

I feel like yesterday was the end of "let's cram in all the quality time we can right now" and today was the beginning of "it's crunch time, so let's get all this last-minute stuff finished!" Our plan is to finish all the "details" this weekend and be able to just do what's scheduled (plus whatever we haven't thought of yet) on Monday and Tuesday. Sally is spending the night out Tuesday night (I have to be at hte hospital at 5:15AM on Wednesday for my 7:15 c-section) so Andy and I can relax for a couple of hours before retiring early.

In fact, we attempted to go to sleep at 9pm tonight, but I couldn't fall asleep, so here I am on the computer for a few hours. Although I think I'll be heading back to bed soon....

Hope your Thanksgiving was spectacular!
