The Starlighting Event
What fun traditions this little town has -- tonight is the Castle Rock Annual Starlighting festivities and we are headed downtown as soon as Sally wakes from her nap. (Actually, Daddy is sleeping too!) It's freezing today -- really only about high 30s, but a strong wind from teh north makes it feel much chillier. We'll have hot cocoa, cookies, snacks and candy canes at the Starlighting. All teh shops are open, and there are small food vendors as well (funnel cakes, that sort of thing). Also free carriage rides, a live reindeer display, carolers, commemorative ornaments and other knick knacks, etc. Not sure what time Santa's arrival is scheduled for, and then there are fireworks after dark. Hooray! Last year, Sally fell asleep up on Daddy's shoulders (resting her head on his) during the fireworks. So we're definitely letting her nap today! I think we'll get there around 5 and it starts gettind dark around 5:30 or so now.
The "new daddy" gift I bought him finally arrived, and of course I can't tell you what it is yet becaues you know he reads this too!
The nursery is really coming along -- it's so darling, it makes me want to fix up Sally's room more, but I swear I am at a loss for ideas. Maybe Nana can help when she gets in.
We are just about 10 days away from baby day, and counting down. Got a pediatrician lined up, I'm preregistered at the hospital, and there are just a few more things on "the list." Fun times, fun times. We spent a good part of the morning working in the garage, organizing, unpacking more boxes (mostly of toys and more clothes!) and pitching, pitching, pitching.
Yep, I think that's what they call "nesting."
Baby has shifted position, and things are now starting to get a bit uncomfortable -- not that I can complain, since it's been a breeze up until now! Who knows, maybe there will be a third someday.....time will tell, so don't even ask me.
Friends are starting to call and write and want to come visit at the hospital, which is wonderful. It will make it seem less strange since we are away from New Orleans now.
