Holy Macaroni

Sally was somewhat of a nightmare this weekend. We were in Austin (I was speaking at an internet marketing seminar) and our friend Aimee had offered to keep Sally adn Sydney during the seminar (we stayed at their house, so I could nurse Sydney during the night).

Sally was a wreck -- probably from lack of attention. Besides missing mommy and daddy, she had to share her surrogate mommy (Aimee) with 3 1/2 year old Hayden, 10 year old Ethan, and 14 year old Sam. Potty training was almost completely reversed by the end of hte trip.

And yet today, Sally wakes up in her own bed, and all is right with the world once again. No accidents today, no problems at school, and she went right down for her nap like a pro. Just goes to show, there's no place like home.

Sydney, on the other hand, was an absolute Angel. Aimee couldn't stop raving about what an advanced soul she is, and how easy she was to care for. Thank goodness!

And she is rapidly learning. She is sitting in her bouncer right now, and at 2 1/2 months, she has already learned that when the sights and sounds stop, she can kick things with her feet and get the show going again. Outstanding.

This was really cute -- when we got home from seminar each night, everyone was in bed (after midnight). But Sunday, things wrapped up around 5pm and we were home by 7. Sydney was awake and obviously happy to see me. I took a few minutes to reconnect with her, and sat on the sofa, holding her facing me. She had a huge grin on her face and "talked" to me (coos, gurgles, giggles, and squeals) non-stop for about 2 minutes straight. It was as though she wanted to tell me all about her weekend and how much she had missed me. Oooooh, I missed her too.

But it was certainly nice to have a break!

My little angels are back into their routines (Syd slept 7 hours straight last night) and we are back in action, at least for a couple of weeks until we head over to Cancun for the Liberty Conference.

Headed Back to Austin

So we are headed back to Austin today, and nice weather is expected this time (yay!). Which is great, because I am mighty tired of wearing winter clothing!

Now that we've survived our first plane travel as a foursome, things should only get easier.

Well, at least until Sydney starts walking.

More to come...

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is my favorite holiday -- a day to celebrate love, in all its many forms.

We'd like to tell you that we love each and every one of you. And we look forward to another year filled with love.

Row, Row Your Boat

Since it's clear that we have at least 1 musical child on our hands, we decided to start teaching her more songs. (She hears a song twice, and can sing it back -- days later)

Row, row your boat
Gently down the street
Merry, merry, merry, merry
life is butta dream

and then there's also:

where is Jacko? where is Jacko?
Donnie vooo? Donnie voo?
Mornin bells are ringin, mornin bells are ringin
Ding dong ding. Ding dong ding.

Meanwhile, Sydney gazes intently, smiles, and is getting close to laughing. And she can stand with almost NO help, and can sit up on her own for a few minutes at a time.

We may have an early crawler here....

Life with the Grants

Life is good.

Snow is melting (interesting how one of hte mildest winters on record is followed by one of the harshest).

Valentine's Day (my favorite holiday) is right around the corner, and Sally's school is planning a Parents' Nite Out that evening (yeah!)

And Sydney, dear sweet Sydney, gets cuter every day.

She coos, she gurgles, she smiles -- a LOT. She stands almost on her own. And yes, she is sleeping through teh night. Hallelujah!

Yep, life is good.

Check it out -- we finally updated both websites: Sally's and Sydney's.
