A Break from Swim Lessons

Yes, I do kind of hate to take a break from swim lessons just when Sally is actually learning to swim, but she is getting far too rambunctious during these classes.

I think it's a combination of things...kind of like the Perfect Storm.

For starters, the only time she goes in a swimming pool is when she's at class. So there's no time to horse around and play in the water, which I would imagine makes it hard to listen up and pay attention during class.

Secondly, the time of day is not optimal. The best time for swim classes would be right after school (in my opinion) but they only offer mornings (while she's at Montessori school) or late afternoons. Which brings me to the next point...

Naps. 4:30pm definitely interferes with Sally's nap schedule, and neither Sally (or me) are quite ready for her to give up her nap yet. So I either have to wake her up or forgo the nap...neither of which is a very desirable option.

So despite the fact that she loves to swim and I love to take her to swim class, we're going to take a break for about a month and see how it goes. In fact, we skipped today because Sally has had croup and needs to get well!

Andy and I are also considering purchasing a membership to the Rec Center, which would allow us all to go swimming much more often (among other fun things).

But right now, I'm happy to have the upcoming break in teh schedule. Especially since the girls both started gymnastics classes this week at MyGym.
