Road Trip a Success So Far...

So we left Castle Rock at 2:20AM on Wednesday (probably the first time EVER in the history of Amy & Andy that we left for any excursion AHEAD of schedule) and hit New Mexico at dawn.

Highlights:

The sunrise was absolutely spectacular coming out of that gorge and into New Mexico.

The girls pretty much slept until New Mexico

The rest stop had signs posted everywhere: Watch for Snakes

Our first "long" stop was at a playground outside of Amarillo around 10AM, which the kids loved.

We did not see (or stop) at any attractions or any places that started with "Home of the World's Largest..."

We arrived in Wichita Falls, Texas at around 2PM, less than 12 hours after we left home. We had been driving for a total of 9 hours.

Checked into a Holiday Inn, took the kids down to the swimming pool, had a hot tub soak, and grabbed some dinner at a nearby Chinese buffet.

I went to sleep around 6AM since I only had 3 hours sleep the night before and I drive most of the way there. Andy adn the kids were up till around 10AM

Turns out, the a/c in our hotel room was not working, and since Wichita Falls is not a hotspot on weekdays, the hotel manager upgraded us to a 3-room suite (sweet!) so we each got our own bed and slept like rocks.
