Sydney is 20 Months Old Today!
Happy 20 month b-day to Sydney! She is picking up 1-2 new words each day, and her development is amazing to watch -- I LOVE this stage!
She remains a supremely happy baby (oops, I mean toddler)...one of the only times she has an outburst is when she and Sally are sharing a snack and Sydney wants to hold it (the bag of goldfish for example, or the whole banana).
She loves to spend time outside (she calls it "side!") on the deck, in the sandbox, or around the playhouse.
We got a new hot tub, but the girls haven't tried it out yet -- we just got it heated to 103 degrees this morning so it's getting nice and therapeutic!
We've been taking Sally and Sydney to the pool every day -- usually at the time when it's hottest in the house. Although I must say, I am LOVING our new attic fan! Yes, definitely superior to air conditioning here in Colorado! If we had A/C, we'd be spending a fortune to cool a 3-story house (walkout basement) and it still wouldn't be as cool as it is right now.
We've been having record temperatures here in Colorado - highs of mid-90s (and yet, still FAR cooler than New Orleans, without all that humidity) And yet, there are really only 2 hours in the late afternoon when our house gets warm. So that's when we plan to be out of the house, and that's working out swimmingly (pun intended).
It's been in the 50s at night, which is when I suspect we'll use the hot tub most often.
Projects of late:
Basement - we've been organizing our storage items, clearing out (thank you craigslist.org) items we no longer need that aren't junk, and generally making the space more use-able. We re-organized the kids' toy area and laid down padding and carpet scraps, creating a comfortable play area of about 400+ square feet. We also set up an extra table and chairs down there, for crafts, dining, etc.
Health - Mommy and Daddy started playing racquetball regularly, and we're visiting the Rec Center nearly daily. We're also taking walks, eating less wheat and a lot more produce, and hitting local farmer's markets, including our favorite year-round indoor market, Sunflower Market.
Today will be our watermelon day...pix to follow soon.
